Welcome to Calibre Developments Commercial Contracting

Calibre’s story dates back to 1986 when Terry Jennett graduated from the University of Calgary with a degree in geology. Calgary at the time was experiencing a down turn in the oil industry and there were no jobs for geologists. Terry decided to turn his painting skills, which he used to work his way through school into a business. Terry worked from an old truck, wining contracts with property management companies to perform condominium and apartment repaints.

From those humble beginnings, several businesses donning the Calibre name were formed including ours – Calibre Developments Inc. in 2005 by Terry, Shayne Butcher, Tim Arnett and Jason Schoenau. The company’s plan was to take advantage of the growing home renovation market as our primary focus and commercial and multi-family projects as our second. “The first year we saw some growing pains as we had to learn what we were doing. We made a lot of mistakes – but as problems arose, we went the distance to make it right” adds Tim.

Late in 2006, we switched and made maintenance and improvement projects for property managers and commercial projects our primary focus and residential renovations our second priority. Quite frankly, working with property managers is repeat business where a successful project involved cooperation between owners, property managers/project engineers and the general contractor. This is more in line with our culture and has led to greater success.

Throughout 2007, 2008 and 2009 we have continuously reinvested in our company in order to improve and diversify the services that we offer and to retain key employees. We received our industry recognized safety program “COR” certification in 2009. In early 2010 our 3,000 square ft expansion on the Calibre building in the Foothills Industrial Park was completed allowing us to provide in house complete custom millwork. We pride ourselves on completing projects through to design and construction with an on-time and on-budget attitude.
